PRP/PRF

Younger looking skin with PRP and PRF

While many patients turn to synthetic fillers and Botox, we think it is important to offer an alternative for those who would prefer to combat aging naturally. In recent years, doctors have found that by utilizing the growth factors found in blood, it is possible to activate cell growth and repair to achieve younger-looking skin. Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is a treatment that involves drawing a patient’s blood, processing it so that only the enriched cells (platelet-rich plasma) remain, and infusing it into the facial tissue through microneedling or injections.  Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) is a second generation to Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP).

Why PRP?

PRP or “Liquid Gold” as we like to call it, is the perfect solution to stimulate cell growth within the body.PRP is produced from your blood. It is a concentration of platelets, which circulate through your blood and are critical for blood clotting. Platelets and the liquid plasma portion of the blood contain many factors that are essential for cell recruitment, multiplication, and specialization.

Why PRF?

Platelet Rich Fibrin is one of the most natural ways to induce collagen. You can use PRF in either an injection or with microneedling. Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) is second-generation PRP platelets, and leukocytes are present to accelerate the healing of soft and hard tissue.

How does the procedure work?

PRP and PRF are taken from your own blood. Prior to the treatment, one vial of blood is drawn. Next, the blood is placed inside a centrifuge designed to separate platelets and fibrin from other blood components. PRP can be applied to face using microneedling. After spinning, the PRF is harvested from the top of the vial into a syringe. PRF is then used in combination with hyaluronic acid dermal fillers to enhance facial volume.

How long do results last?

PRF is performed in a series of treatments, spaced six to eight weeks apart. Results typically last one to three weeks and the volume will essentially dissipate. Long-term effects, such as skin tightening, collagen production and enhanced skin quality, may take up to three to four months to be noticed and can last from six to 12 months. The visibility of expected benefits and results of the PRF treatment is typically seen after six weeks from initial treatment.
